About
Hello! My name is Sam Collins. Like many of you seeing this page, I've grown up with dogs for my entire life and my dream job always involved them. When I was a kid, I grew up with a black lab named Marley. Even from a young age, I was interested in training him and teaching him new tricks- he was the smartest dog I ever knew! From then, I've grown up with herding dogs, hounds, mutts and more, so don't be surprised if I'm a little bias towards your corgi.
My training journey started in 2025, where I was hired as a Pet Trainer at Petsmart. Ever since that position, my passion for training has been jumpstarted, and I want to continue offering my services to the Lake Norman area and continue my training journey. I plan on getting more certifications down the road as I progress. ​I fully, and truly believe that Positive Re-Enforcement is the foundation of all training and want to show people how to develop a relationship with their dog.

If you're wondering, I have three dogs at home. Though, Soren, the one pictured in the photo and logo, is my personal dog that inspired me to do this. Soren is a Bernese Mountain Dog and Great Pyrenees, and you'll probably hear me talk about him a lot during our training sessions. He's still a little guy at the time of writing this, so expect these pictures to get updated overtime.
I am most verse in working with unconfident dogs, leash manners, basic obedience and some tricks as well. I am okay with working with any breed of dog and have a lot of experience with different kinds.

Puppy Training
Ages 10 weeks - 20 weeks
For starting a new bond.
Get your basic obedience with your pup and teach them manners early on for a happy, safe life later on. Provides tips about socialization and common puppy problems.

Teenager Training
Ages 4 months - 1 year
For strengthening manners with age.
Ah, yes... The wonderful teenager. Regain basic obedience, re-introducing boundaries and previous taught manners.

For continuing to foster a relationship.
Introduction to basic obedience and more with the adult program. This course is recommended for older rescues or dogs that need to touch up on certain areas.

Does your pup already have their basic obedience? Want to improve in a certain area? Private classes can focus on one specific issue.

Training Philosophy
Here at Wolfsbane Dog Training, we only use Positive Reinforcement training and do not use any other methods, as R+ has been scientifically proven to be the most effective. Now, I know what you're thinking reading this; "I'm just bribing my dog with treats in order to get them to do what I want." Not exactly. Think of this; you wouldn't go into work and not clock in, right? So, when you are asking your dog to sit and you don't have anything, there's no reason to do what your asking. Treats, and other tools such as toys, petting, and praise, are an incentive to work towards a goal. Overtime as you continue to use "payouts," the dog will understand what is asked of it and will automatically start doing it. Here at Wolfsbane, we show you how to slowly start alternating from treats, to toys, to petting and so forth. R+ Training helps you develop a better, more meaningful relationship with your dog.

I do not work with dogs that are extremely human/dog aggressive, reactive, or have a bite history with humans and/or dogs. I have a right to decline services before, or during session. If in the case your dog has been deemed as unfit, you will be fully refunded and referred to a Canine Behaviorist.
